Chaplain Todd DuBord (M.Div.) is an author, researcher, theologian, historian, apologist, and retired pastor who has dedicated more than four decades to helping people examine the historical, scientific, philosophical, and biblical foundations of Christianity. A longtime researcher, co-author, friend and pastor with Chuck and Gena Norris, Todd has also led nationally recognized efforts to restore omitted religious history at prominent American landmarks.

Raised in an atheist and agnostic household in Northern California, Todd's own journey from skepticism to Christian faith profoundly shaped his approach to research, scholarship, ministry, and public education. Today, as the Founder and Executive Chaplain of CrossFire USA, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity, he continues his lifelong mission of equipping people to investigate truth, understand America's religious heritage, and defend the principles of faith, freedom, and family.

Raised in an atheist and agnostic liberal household in the San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California, Todd entered early adulthood questioning whether human existence had any transcendent meaning or purpose. Rather than accepting the religious beliefs or philosophical assumptions of others without investigation, he began an extensive personal search to understand life's greatest questions.

His inquiry led him into the natural sciences, competing philosophical explanations of existence, the origins of religious belief, world religions, historical evidence, and the claims of Christianity. What began as a personal search gradually developed into more than a decade of formal and independent education, research, and investigation.

Over time, Todd became persuaded that Christianity's historical and theological claims offered compelling answers to questions he had once approached from an atheistic perspective. His transition from skepticism to Christian faith did not diminish his appreciation for serious intellectual inquiry or his respect for people who hold different convictions. Instead, it strengthened his conviction that religious claims should be investigated carefully, openly, and honestly.

That philosophy continues to influence his writing, teaching, historical research, and personal conversations with skeptics, agnostics, atheists, and people of many religious backgrounds.

Todd earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Bethany University and his Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from Fuller Theological Seminary, completing eight years of undergraduate and graduate higher education.

His academic work, supplemented by extensive independent research, has included:

• Christian apologetics and the philosophical and scientific arguments concerning God's existence
• Biblical canonicity and the historical development of the Old and New Testaments
• Biblical and ecclesiastical languages, interpretation, and hermeneutics

Todd has also recently visited Oxford University in England, where he is considering pursuing doctoral studies. His continuing academic interests include the possibility of earning a Ph.D. at Oxford or another leading research university, including institutions within the American Ivy League.

His scholarly interests extend beyond denominational theology into the broader investigation of historical documents, archaeology, religious traditions, philosophy, scientific research, and the relationship between faith and reason.

While completing his undergraduate and graduate education, Todd also worked in the corporate business sector for a regional copier corporation.

Serving as Operations Manager for the Southern California region, he oversaw significant operational responsibilities and received numerous management and leadership awards in recognition of his professional accomplishments.

This combination of business administration, organizational leadership, graduate theological education, and practical ministry would later prove valuable in developing churches, educational programs, major restoration projects, and national ministry initiatives.

For approximately 40 years, Todd served in pastoral, chaplaincy, counseling, teaching, and community ministry. His work brought him into the lives of thousands of individuals and families confronting illness, grief, addiction, broken relationships, personal crises, and tragedy.

His early ministry included prison and homeless outreach, drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs, youth ministry, and Christian discipleship.

While attending graduate school, he also supervised a ministry serving 13 retirement homes and convalescent hospital facilities, completed a chaplaincy internship at the University of Southern California Medical Center in Los Angeles, and worked as a community outreach liaison at Lake Avenue Congregational Church in Pasadena, California.

Todd's decades of local pastoral ministry included several significant chapters:

1980s — Youth Ministry: Served as a youth pastor within a Foursquare church, working with young people and families during his early years of ministry.

1990s — Presbyterian Ministry: Served as an assistant pastor at a Presbyterian church, continuing his work in biblical teaching, counseling, and congregational leadership.

1996–2007 — Lake Almanor Community Church: Served for 11 years as Senior Pastor of Lake Almanor Community Church in Northern California, near Lassen National Forest. During his pastorate, he directed a major 10,000-square-foot Christian education building expansion and established a Christian school that continues operating today.

2014–2024 — Mt. Lassen Community Church: Alongside close friends and ministry partners, Todd helped establish and pastor the nondenominational Mt. Lassen Community Church. The congregation gathered in the historic Mt. Lassen Theatre, which underwent an extensive restoration completed under his leadership in cooperation with Executive Theatre Director Gwen Salvador and then Office Manager Keri Reed as well as 16 other great community and congregational friends.

In 2024, following approximately four decades of pastoral ministry, Todd retired from local church pastoring to dedicate his time and experience to a broader national mission through CrossFire USA.

Although retired from local pastoral responsibilities, his continuing work includes teaching, writing, public speaking, counseling, prison and hospital ministry, and supporting people in seasons of personal suffering and spiritual uncertainty.

Beginning in 2006, Todd developed a close professional and personal relationship with Chuck and Gena Norris, serving in research, writing, ministry, and humanitarian outreach.

He initially worked as a research assistant and personal pastor and, in 2008, joined their organization full-time as Chaplain of Top Kick Productions, supporting the family's Christian and humanitarian initiatives.

Over approximately 20 years, Todd contributed extensive historical, theological, cultural, and scientific research to Chuck Norris's syndicated publications, which included more than 2,000 columns in his nationally distributed cultural commentary and C-Force health and fitness series.

His research responsibilities frequently required investigating original historical documents, evaluating competing interpretations, identifying reliable sources, and developing supporting evidence for articles addressing religion, American history, culture, public policy, and contemporary issues.

Todd also contributed to three major books associated with the Norris family:

Black Belt Patriotism: How to Reawaken America — Chuck Norris's New York Times bestseller, examining American history, patriotism, national challenges, and the foundational principles of the United States.

The Official Chuck Norris Fact Book: 101 of Chuck's Favorite Facts and Stories — A collection of humor, personal reflections, inspirational stories, and observations from Chuck Norris.

Acts of Kindness: My Story — The autobiography of Chuck's mother, Wilma Norris Knight, which Todd spent approximately two years helping research and co-write. The project provided an opportunity to document Wilma's remarkable life, family history, Christian faith, and personal experiences.

Todd and his wife, Tracy, also accompanied Wilma to New York City for her national television appearance on Mike Huckabee's FOX News program.

In September 2007, during the Iraq War, Todd accompanied Chuck Norris and his publicist—and Todd's longtime friend—Jeff on a journey to the Middle East to personally encourage and express appreciation to American military personnel serving overseas.

Their travels included visits to 15 military bases and interactions with more than 18,000 American troops, along with opportunities to encourage wounded service members receiving treatment and recovering in military hospitals.

For Todd, the journey was more than an opportunity to meet military personnel. It allowed him to personally thank the men and women bearing the sacrifices of military service, listen to their experiences, offer spiritual and personal encouragement, and witness firsthand the physical and emotional costs of war.

One of Todd's nationally recognized areas of research and public advocacy involves investigating the omission, alteration, or incomplete presentation of historically documented religious information at prominent American landmarks.

Through extensive examination of historical records, original inscriptions, public exhibits, and primary-source documents, he has challenged misleading or incomplete presentations of America's religious heritage and advocated for historically accurate public education.

Among his most prominent investigations were successful efforts involving the Washington Monument and Historic Jamestown, where he helped bring national attention to omitted or inadequately presented religious history and advocated for corrections.

His investigations received national media attention, including FOX News coverage, and contributed to broader public discussions about historical accuracy, public memory, and the role of religion in America's founding and development.

At the Washington Monument, Todd investigated the omission of the meaning of the Latin inscription Laus Deo—"Praise be to God"—from public historical presentations. His work brought attention to the monument's documented religious inscriptions and their place in understanding its historical significance.

In addition to the Washington Monument and Historic Jamestown, Todd has conducted historical research and public advocacy concerning presentations at:

Entitled Fighting for America's Vanishing Christian Heritage, the presentation takes viewers through monuments, buildings, inscriptions, and original historical evidence concerning the religious beliefs and moral principles that influenced America's founding generations.

The presentation includes Todd's personal account of his Washington Monument investigation, historical observations concerning George Washington's warnings about religion and morality, and a pictorial examination of biblical inscriptions and religious symbolism throughout the nation's capital.

Following his retirement from local pastoring in 2024, Todd devoted his attention to establishing and expanding CrossFire USA, a nonprofit educational and Christian outreach organization serving readers and audiences throughout America and beyond.

Todd and his wife, Tracy, were married in 1983 and have shared more than four decades of marriage, family, ministry, and life's challenges and blessings.

Tracy has also documented their remarkable journey together in her book, I'll Meet You at the Dock: A Bipolar Love Affair, a deeply personal account of their relationship, the challenges they have faced, and the enduring importance of love, commitment, perseverance, and faith.

Together, Todd and Tracy have two biological adult children, two additional children who became part of their family through marriage, and five grandchildren.

They reside in the mountains of Northern California, where Todd enjoys spending time with family, reading, studying, gardening, exercising, fishing, outdoor activities, and appreciating the natural beauty of the region.

With a touch of humor, Todd sometimes refers to his rural mountain retreat as his "conservative cave in California."
